Food systems are a complex web of inter-connected social, environmental, economic, and cultural issues. To be able to deliver systems solutions within this complexity, systems innovation offers cross-sectoral, multi-stakeholder, multifactorial, and interdisciplinary approaches to innovative solution development. As such, systems innovation enables transdisciplinary processes to stimulate learning, problem-solving, and co-production of knowledge and solutions between a diversity of stakeholders, to tackle complex societal challenges.
