16-18 APRIL 2024
BILBAO - BEC
Netherlands, Expo FoodTehc guest country partner 2022

Already in 2018, the Netherlands has become Europe’s largest exporter of agri-food products, with 80 billion euros in exports. The cooperation between educational institutions, universities, farmers, livestock breeders, and farmers and the government is fundamental to this success. More than two decades ago, the Netherlands launched the sustainable agriculture programme ‘twice the food using half the resources‘.

Thanks to innovation applied in farming techniques, the Netherlands has managed to increase the production of some fruits and vegetables by up to 47%, halving the area under cultivation and reducing the use of water or chemicals. The exploitation of renewable energies and the use of waste are also key in this race for food innovation in the field of livestock farming.

From Food 4 Future – Expo FoodTech, we want to recognise the leadership of the Netherlands in the transformation of the food system, and therefore in this next edition, we will have the Netherlands as Guest Country.
