Bioengineering and biotechnology are rapidly advancing fields that are contributing to the development of new ingredients for the food industry. Opening the scope to the future of food production based on bioengineering technologies to enhance food chain production: plant-based meat alternatives, fermented ingredients, algae-based and insect ingredients, and biodegradable packaging among others.
